Cancelled Appointment

I got a call this morning from the RE's office saying that my appointment needed to be cancelled. Apparently the genetic counselor that we have been working with was pg and she went into labor earlier than expected. Her replacement isn't able to start taking appointments until next week, so our appointment is up in the air. I find it a little ironic that the person we are supposed to meet with because we can't have a baby isn't able to meet with us because she has gone into labor.

On the bright side, my sister and I have started planning a girls trip! We are planning on going to the New England area (we are leaning towards Boston) this October. If anyone has any advice on where to go/what to do/where to stay, I would love it!

  1. Oh the irony: We had a nurse at our RE's that was pregnant. We saw her only once and it just about killed both of us (it was just after our azoo diagnosis). Hopefully you'll get an appt soon.

New England is a great place to visit in the fall. There's lots to do. Salem (just north of Boston) is a cute town to go to in October. They have a lot of street fairs and things for Halloween.

  2. ICLW - Thanks for your comment on my post. I'm sorry to hear your appointment was cancelled because of counselor's labor - crazy is it not? My favorite was going to my ob/gyn office numerous times for issues last year and there was always a pregnant nurse, office person, etc who worked there. Drove me nuts. I mean not that there is anything wrong with pregnant people working, but you know what I mean! Planning a girls trip sounds like fun. Good luck with that and your adoption plans.

  3. Thanks for your comment on my blog earlier this week. I've just been reading through yours. Sorry to hear you had your appointment cancelled. I think that since it has the highest birthrate in the country, Utah is THE most depressing place to be infertile! I'm a Utah girl myself and very happy not to live there right now!

  4. We had to meet with the actual genetics doctor because the counselor was on maternity leave... and I thought something similar. It was a mixed blessing- she clearly wasn't used to dealing face to face with people, but was very knowledgeable.

  5. Thanks for visiting my blog. That is an ironic situation with your Doctor, I hope it gets worked out quickly!

Boston is great. I went to college there and live on the Cape now. Things to do....hmmmm...if you like a good walk, there's the Freedom Trail, and you HAVE to go to the public gardens and walk around there. We always go to the Cactus Club and have a margarita. The Back Bay is the best place to walk around and shop. There are some great store on Newbury Street and Boylston. Have fun!!!

  7. Boston is wonderful! A visit to Salem is also fun in October. Last October I took my husband for a walk along the Charles River. We also enjoyed Newbury Street - didn't do much shopping though as we visited a few restaurants. I took him on a trolley tour a few years ago and he enjoyed that too.

  9. That's pretty ironic. Hopefully your appointment goes well and it's not hard to get it scheduled with her back-up.

As for the vacation, it sounds so wonderful! I've only been to Boston once for fun and once for work, but there is really so much to do. I hope you enjoy it!
