Never Been Here Before!

Well folks, I have officially made it past my "farthest along I've ever been" date. It feels good to have officially made it to 10 weeks, but I am still pretty nervous for next week's ultrasound. I don't feel like any of my pg symptoms have let up, but I am still nervous that I will get bad news at my appointment. This whole experience seems surreal and like it is too good to be true. Sometimes I have these thoughts of "Is there really a baby inside of me"? I hear that is pretty normal, and to be honest, I don't know when they will go away. Maybe once I start having a belly or feeling the baby move? I went to lunch with a good friend yesterday who is pg after IF. She is 18 weeks along, and she talked about how she still has doubts that things are turning out, so I guess this is just what IF does to you.

I was finally able to get in touch with my genetic counselor earlier this week. She said that based on my mom's history (she has the same chromosome issue as me), that she DOES NOT think that our baby is at increased risk for birth defects. That is what her partner had mentioned when we met with her last August, but it was still good to hear again. We decided to schedule one test (I don't remember what it is called), but it will give me an extra ultrasound, which I am definitely happy about.

In other news, we finally have a court date set to finalize J's adoption! It isn't until June 27, so we still have a while to wait, but I am so excited to have something on the calendar.

  1. Congratulations on 10 weeks! I know how great it is to finally be in uncharted territory and I can't wait for the weeks to keep melting away for you.

Glad you have a court date, but whoa, june is a long time away!

  2. This is amazing news on both counts, your pregnancy and the court date :) I am pretty sure you said in a previous post that even with that particular chromosome issue, your mum still had 5 healthy kids, right? So sounds like your odds are great. Yay for an extra ultrasound too!!

  3. I'll be ten weeks on Monday and I feel the exact same way. Eight weeks was the furthest I made it, and both times were missed miscarriages, so I even feel weird saying I'll be ten weeks... like, what if I'm not anymore and I don't know it?

Luckily, I have a doctor's appointment on Monday, so hopefully I'll get good news to ease my mind.

    Good luck at your u/s!

  4. Wow! Sounds like things are going really well. I'll be praying for your next ultrasound, but everything sounds like it's going great! Great news about the finalization too! It'll be here before you know it! So excited for you!!

  5. Sorry to say but that feeling never goes away. I'm a little over 28 weeks and each week I still can't believe I'm pregnant. Before each appointment I still worry that they won't find a HB with the doppler, even though I can feel him moving around like crazy. IF makes you the worst pregnant lady, lol.

  7. Wow, I am so happy for you. Yea for extra ultrasounds also.

Yea for courtdates. I am glad that will be coming up in a few more months.

I promise as you get further past your loss date the more you are going to relax and enjoy this pregnancy.
